Community Growing Project – Clos Dinas Wen Growers (United Welsh)

Residents in Trethomas had wanted to make better use of space in their street and worked with Space Saviours and their landlord, United Welsh to design accessible growing spaces.

Supported by consultants Wild Spirit, they produced a project plan covering design, costs and sustainability. Space Saviours supported them to become a constituted group and access grant funding from the Together Fund managed by Coalfields Regeneration.

They were successfully awarded nearly £5,000 for start up costs. 6 raised beds, 2 benches and a shed have been installed and the group are looking forward to their first growing season.

They are also planning on sharing their experience with other United Welsh residents and commented “ It’s so important to get outside in the fresh air and having this shared growing space, we cant wait to get growing, and chatting over a cuppa!”
